Cake Smash Session Clients Ask

H

ere are a few of my most popular questions I get asked about my Cake Smash photography sessions and the answers I give. As always, if there are any additional questions you have about my session either have a look at my dedicated Cake Smash Session page or Contact Me directly. I’m always happy to email, text or chat 🙂

Can parents and sibling be in the photos?

Yes, of course! I love taking parent and family photos. These images are taken in the ‘Before’, portraits. Siblings don’t often attend these sessions but they are very welcome to. While siblings can stay for the session I do advise against it, as the green eyed monster can make an appearance when they see their younger sibling getting lots of attention… and cake! This is totally your call though.

How does the session work?

The session is divided up into three parts: Before Portraits, The Cake Smash and then the Splash. In each section I have a range of images I take in addition to the outfit and backdrop change, so you have a variety of photos to celebrate your baby’s first birthday.

Is the cake included and do you cater for allergies?

Absolutely, cake is included! We work with a fantastic baker who creates mouthwatering cakes that can be customized to match your desired colour scheme. They also offer dairy-free, eggless, and vegan options to accommodate dietary restrictions. However, it’s important to note that due to potential cross-contamination in the kitchen, the bakery cannot guarantee complete allergen-free environments. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask!

What should my baby wear?

I have a range of beautiful handmade clothes your baby wear for their photos. You can choose two outfits, one for the ‘Before’ photos and one for the ‘Cake Smash’. You can of course, bring your own outfit for your baby if you wish to.

how do i pick the backdrop for my session?

Ahead of your session I send you my Cake Smash Planning Guide. From here you can select your favourite backdrop, outfits and the all important cake. The Guide also has hints and tips so the session runs perfectly.
