Farbridge is located on the stunning landscape of the Sussex downs. It was love at first when I visited Farbridge with my assistant Lexy. We are both completely besotted with this wedding venue. Offering rustic charm beautiful combined with modern facilities give it a homely contemporary feel. Farbridge is beautiful, cosy, light airy and has all a couple would want for their wedding day.
I’ll now pass you over to the fabulous Pippa who works at Farbridge. Pippa kindly answered some questions to give more details into this BEA-Utiful venue!
How long has Farbridge been open as a wedding venue?
We have been up and running for 9 years now and as of this year (2016) all catering is now in house. This obviously has huge advantages such as us all being together as one team in the same office, we now have the ability to tailor all aspects of the events (predominantly weddings) which is very exciting.
What is the Farbridge Story?
Farbridge has been created out of a group of redundant farm buildings on the West Dean Estate. They have now been designed specifically for wedding receptions and licensed for civil ceremonies. The entire site has carbon underfloor heating system which is powered by an environmentally-friendly Biomass boiler fuelled by wood chips sourced from the 2000 acre sustainable West Dean Forest. The barns been lovingly restored loosing none of their charm, keeping many of its original features.
How many people can you accommodate for a wedding?
We can accommodate a maximum of 150 guests for a sit down meal and up to 200 standing for the evening. There is no minimum number that we would enforce it really is dependant of the style of event each client is after.
Do you have any guest accommodation?
Farbridge is entirely self-contained for weddings. Brides prepare for the wedding in the gorgeous light and airy bridal suite which as a hidden door into a gorgeous dressing room.
Farbridge also provides contemporary guest accommodation with their 7 guest rooms.
There is even a stylish breakfast room for the newly married couple to have breakfast in the morning after their wedding, with their closest friends and family.
What is included in your wedding venue package?
As well as the bridal suite and guest accommodation, our package includes the exclusive use and privacy of the Farbridge barns. Couples who have their ceremony at Farbridge are welcomed in to the charming Meadow barn. This is transformed into the evening dance floor, complete with its own built in sound system and disco lights. The room also provides underfloor heating and air conditioning so everyone can be in complete comfort.
Adjoining the Meadow barn is the spacious and light, main Lavant Barn, which can comfortably seat between 50 -150 guests for the wedding breakfast. There are gorgeous up-lighters around the barn to give it a warm soft lighting effect. In addition to the sheltered lawn with view of the rolling South Downs, there is a cobbled bridge overlooking the pretty stream with runs just outside the barns. There is ample parking on site as well as disabled facilities. Our team is on hand to help you every step of the way.
Do you have your own caterers?
Farbridge offers our own talented in-house event team who work with couples to create a wedding menu completely bespoke to them, from fine dining to hearty dishes. We are also one of the rare venues that offer no corkage charge.
Do you have any restrictions, fireworks, noise etc?
The venue does come with certain restrictions, fire lanterns are not permitted due to the fields around us. Fireworks are also not allowed to be set off due to the livestock, the only downside to being so rural! Fireworks however are allowed on New Years Eve or bonfire night. Aside of this we are fairly relaxed with decorations and theming of the barn, which allows clients to be as creative as they wish.
Do you have any links with nearby accommodation?
With regards to accommodation, we are not affiliated with any local B&B’s or hotels but we do have some that we often recommend. The list can be found here http://www.farbridge.org.uk/contact-us/local-accommodation-taxis-other-suppliers/ it is very dependant on budget, however we do personally quite like Hunters Lodge and The White Horse.
What makes your venue so special?
We aim for the whole day to be completely bespoke, either casual and relaxed or intimate and comprehensive anything is possible and one of our unique selling points is the catering. We have 30 years experience in the catering industry so everyone is in safe hands! We are extremely versatile to all styles and tastes and we design all menus with the clients to suit their preferences and needs. We always seek out to use the finest local and seasonal produce, even growing some of them in our own gardens.
Thank you to Pippa for answering my questions. Well I feel completely head over heels with Farbridge and I hope you can see why. I am so excited to be photographing Jessica & Daniel’s wedding here in July.
