At the end of January on a frosty winters morning, I visited the unique Tudor mansion of Cain Manor. Originally the manor started out as two separate cottages, that were believed to have been constructed from recycled ships dating back further than the 16th century . It wasn’t until the 1990’s that the cottage were beautifully combine to form one spectacular manor house.
Instantly, I felt relaxed and happy as I drove up-to the manor though beautiful tranquil woods. I was greeted by Jo, the lovely wedding co-ordinator who proudly showed me around the venue. Cain Manor is one of a few luxury venues by Bijou weddings. Francesca from Bijou weddings, has kindly answered a few questions to further explain what makes Cain Manor so special.
How long has Cain Manor been open as a wedding venue?
Cain Manor became an exclusive use wedding venue and part of the Bijou Wedding Venues group, back in 2003. Since then, Cain Manor has hosted weddings every season; from cosy winter weddings to sunny summertime soirees.
When was Cain Manor Built?
Its thought that Cain Manor dates back to the 16th Century, when a man called Cain who was ex-communicated lived on the land that now makes up the estate. Cain Manor was originally two cottages that were built around the 16th-17th centuries, but in the 1990s was renovated into one, using timbers that had been recycled from old ships that date back even further than when the original building was created.
How many people can you accommodate for a wedding?
Cain Manor can host up to 123 wedding guests during the ceremony and wedding banquet, but can host a total of 170 when it comes to the evening reception.
What is included in your wedding venue package?
Each wedding package is different, depending on the requirement of the couple, but in general a Bijou Wedding includes 24-hour exclusive hire of the venue, a civil ceremony set up, 2 reception drinks per guest, a 3 course meal followed by tea, coffee and truffles, half a bottle of wine and mineral water per person, a glass of Champagne for the speeches, a welcome glass of Champagne for evening guests, a light evening buffet, table linen, glassware, service, VAT and the bedrooms.
Do you have any guest accommodation?
Cain Manor offers a stunning bridal suite along with 13 further tastefully decorated en-suite guest bedrooms.
Do you have any links with nearby accommodation?
Cain Manor can recommend hotel accommodation for guests wishing to stay close by after the wedding. Couples are allocated a wedding planning manager at the time of their booking, so they’ll receive constant support, advice and recommendations throughout their wedding planning when required.
What time does the day end?
Bijou Wedding Venue hire is from 11am on the day of the wedding until 11am the following morning. At Cain Manor, the entertainment comes to an end at 11:30pm and carriages are at midnight.
Do you have your own caterers?
Cain Manor has its own professional in-house chef that will offer booked wedding couples a complimentary menu tasting session in advance of the big day so that the perfect wedding breakfast menu can be selected.
Can couples hire their own suppliers or do they choose from a preferred vendor list?
Bijou Wedding Venues have their own Bijou Partners that they work closely with. Couples are of course welcome to bring in their own suppliers, but the Bijou Partners know each Bijou Wedding Venue all and therefore we know that they’ll do a great job.
What makes your venue so special?
Cain Manor is a rare gem, that is versatile all year round. Its cosy charm, exquisite oak-beamed features, luxurious facilities and far-reaching views over the North Downs and Surrey’s Golden Valley make Cain Manor a true, one-of-a-kind wedding venue, with a services experience that is second to none, included!
I hope you find this venue tour helpful, especially if you are considering having your own wedding at Cain Manor. This coming May I will be photographing Holly & Rory’s wedding here, so look out for a future post all about how their wonderful wedding day unfolded!
Many thanks to Jo for making feel so welcome and Francesca for taking the time to answer my questions.
