NIGHT-TIME

Baby Feeding Tips

l

Night time feedings can be a challenge for new parents. It can be difficult to get a good night’s sleep when you are constantly waking up to feed your baby. I remember being so tired I hallucinated my baby fell off the bed when in fact they were safely in my arms!

There are some tips that can help you make night time feedings a little easier.

Plan your Feedings

d

Try to establish a feeding schedule for your baby so that you can predict when they will need to eat during the night. This will help you to get a better night’s sleep, as you will know when you need to be awake and when you can relax.

Minimalise Stimulation

d

Minimize stimulation. Try to minimize stimulation during night time feedings so that your baby does not get too excited and wake up fully. This means avoiding talking to your baby, singing to them, or playing with them.

Make it comfortable

d

Create a comfortable feeding environment for your baby so that they can relax and fall back asleep quickly after they have eaten. This could mean using a dim night light, turning on a fan, or using a white noise machine.

Be Patient

d

Be patient. It may take some time for your baby to learn to sleep through the night. Be patient and consistent with your feeding schedule and your baby will eventually learn to sleep for longer stretches.

Ask for help

d

Get help if you need it. If you are struggling to cope with night time feedings, don’t be afraid to ask for help from your partner, family, or friends. They can help you with the feedings or take care of your baby so that you can get some sleep.
